New Jellyfin Server/Web release: 10.11.5

I’ve found it a bit faster for TV and films, but it’s ready for general use due to the terrible performance of the home video and photos library.
How many things do you have in tv / film?
Mine has 2,723 films and 2,113 series containing 43,490 episodes and after I removed my non tv/film based libraries it works just fine.

I use Home Videos and Photos for 5 of my libraries plus Music for 2 and Music Videos for one.

How are you finding that and how much content do you have? I found the HV&P was ok with a very small amount of content - but even with that tiny amount was slower than 10.7 with ALL of it. When I added a little more (I’m talking maybe 0.5% of what I had in it for 10.7) navigating it hangs. Six minutes trying one subfolder and I gave up waiting.

I have libraries which are just dump folders where I put videos that I don't want/care to scrape for metadata. Movie Trailers for coming movies, cartoon shorts and random videos. Setting these as "Movies" breaks everything.

I have a similar folder for movie posters which is just images but folders I dump into and move around. No other option for that.

Performance overall in JF isn't what I'd call fast up to 10.10.7 but it does work. Hearding both these library types and overall performance are broken or at best downgraded doesn't leave me optimistic to spend a week trying to get things working again. And now seeing full new library scans taking that amount of time is frightening.

I came to JF for it's simplicity of use and amazing ability to manage my media over a braod spectrum of clients far easier than just using Kodi along as I had for a decade. I just want it to work quick, responsive and make sense. I learnt the quirks about how to do what I was hoping, where I was not going to be able to do so and sorted things out. To me JF should progres forward and build more intuitive and beneficial features, not seemingly take a step backwards for the sake of "making progress", which is what the entire 10.11 versions read to be.

I upgraded to 10.11.0 at launch and had massive performance issues loading my "home videos" libraries (mostly YouTube and Twitch rips totaling almost 100k videos catalogued by a deep folder tree). As in, a library might take 5+ minutes to load whereas on 10.10.7 it took less than a second. Rolled back to 10.10.7 back then, but now with my Android TV app warning me about deprecation of 10.10.x servers decided to try 10.11.5.

It is STILL not fixed. How is such a fundamental, deal-breaking issue not even progressing on the Github tracker after 2+ months? I'm honestly more than happy to remain on 10.10.7 forever until it's fixed, but unfortunately the clients have started to force my hand.

I completely agree with the previous comments.
However my 10.11.5 without 50% of my content was faster - but it’s no use being faster if I can’t actually access all of my content. 

I also picked Jellyfin due to how simple, robust and stable it has been. It’s really disappointing that it appears there’s been no movement on fixing such fundamental use of the server so far in 10.11. I get that initially the important thing was getting the migration working properly and that should take priority since it was broken - but it would be nice to have an acknowledgment that the home movies and photos library has an issue and to hold off 10.11 if you rely on those until those issues can be worked out.

I too would happily stay on 10.10.7 forever since it just works - but clients are starting to make that impossible. It shouldn’t be the case that a new version is worse and less functional than what it’s replacing!

Is there ANY update on when this issue is going to be addressed? Not even asking for a timeline, just an acknowledgment it’s being looked at. Currently I’ve no way of accessing huge part of my content through Jellyfin. Holding on for a few more days in case 10.11.6 is out soon and fixes it otherwise I’ll have no choice but to go back to 10.10.7 again

After performing a couple of updates on a test machine, last week I updated my Jellyfin server Docker instance to version 10.11.5. So far, it's working perfectly. I've only noticed a slight decrease in RAM usage when nothing is playing.

i didn't have any problems with this release until know. just yesterday after i added the "looney tunes" collection to my library (which has more than 1,000 animated shorts) scans just stopped working. it doesn't even go forward. this is how i realized recent builds have a problem working with larger libraries.

so, if you are collecting the animated shorts like me, stay on older builds

I have around 2,560 films and 78 series with over 3,000 episodes.
My library is sorted by genre, and the films and series are stored in separate folders with subfolders for each series. My films and series are also neatly organised, with covers and film/series information for each one.
In addition, all folder paths that can be moved are stored on my SSD to enable Jellyfin to load graphics etc. quickly. This worked great in 10.10.7. It was super fast. But now... it constantly lags and often takes forever to load.
At first, I thought that maybe I didn't have enough RAM, so I upgraded from 16GB to 32GB. It didn't help. There's nothing more I can do at the moment.

My install is on a TrueNAS server in Docker. Explained my issues a bit above.
