Please fix this issue… movies work, but TV series don’t. The series appears, but the episodes do not show up in the seasons.
Please fix it. I’ve been asking for a solution for three versions now, and considering that with each version I have to wait two weeks, it’s frustrating to have a server that’s stopped and unused until you fix this problem.

I've been using libraries that contain TV shows that are symlinks from another library and that works just fine in 10.11. Even yesterday I added a new series to Folder A (only source for Library A) and added a symlink to that series' folder to Folder B (only source for Library B) and the TV show got properly added to both libraries A and B without issue.

It doesn’t work for me; movies work correctly.
I have the content on several external drives (G:, F:, K:, etc.).
I create all the symlinks, correctly renamed, in

    C:\Media\TV Series\Series Name (year)\Season 1\Series Name - s01e01 title.mkv
    and it still doesn’t work.

I do the same for movies and they work perfectly; only TV series don’t find the EPISODES.
The TV series appears, the season appears, but inside the episodes it’s empty there’s nothing there!

On the competing software, instead, Emby recognizes everything perfectly :-(

    Try it like this:

    C:\Media\TV Series\Series Name (year)\Season 01\s01e01.mkv

My entire series directory is set like this, no issues...

No, large libraries with folders are still not working properly in this release.

On a serious note, what is the hold up with this issue? Ever since the last major update half of my libraries no longer load. I can get them to load if I limit the display per page down to 10, but that makes it hard to navigate a library with hundreds of entries. What needs to be done to resolve this? What can I do to help? I'm about to start looking for a replacement for Jellyfin if this isn't resolved soon.

Also, my audiobook library, in addition to not loading unless I limit the display, no longer recognizes .m4b files. The only thing it displays is the cover art if I have them saved as an image file. I assume this has been the case since 10.11.0, but I'm not sure since I haven't been able to browse that library since the update.

Devs, mods, whomever can work on it, contact me if there's anything I can provide for resolving this. Everything I've listed here was working in 10.10.x and it's been infuriating dealing with it since the update.

I'd love to stay on Jellyfin as it's been working well for years but this "improvement" which actually breaks much of what I use it for is more than a little annoying - although it's more annoying that clients are ending support for 10.10.x so quickly. They should at least be waiting until 10.11.x works as well as 10.10.7 first!

You should both explain what a "large" library is, and on which OS and hardware your systems are running.
    10.11 is perfectly fine.

On 10.11.5 the memory usage was around 450-550mb, after 10.11.6 I see around 125-300mb.

    10.11 is perfectly fine.

I'm using Unraid Jellyfin official docker image (I was using bbergle-jellyfin when I first updated to 10.11.0, but it had the same issue)
    11th Gen Intel® Core™ i5-11400 @ 2.60GHz
    Memory: 32 GiB DDR4
Battlemage G21 [Arc Pro B50] (previously Arc A310)

I have multiple libraries all not working:
Library 1 (home video and photo): 2.2tb, 4211 items in 58 folders, no subfolders
Library 2 (home video and photo): 498.2gb, 2985 items in 259 folders, contains subfolders - This is my audiobook library that also no longer recognizes .m4b files
Library 3 (home video and photo): 11.8tb, 4146 items in 71 folders, no subfolders
Library 4 (home video and photo): 1.5tb (+11.8tb) 1950 items (+4146 items) in 8 folders, no subfolders - This one is a little weird because it contains much of Library 3, but it should have all the individual folders set in direct links, so while Library 3 keeps the content separated by creator, Library 4 lists everything out in 1 chronological view

I have a few other libraries that do function properly, 2 of them (home video and photo) are subsets of library 3, again listed out chronologically, but in smaller scopes ,one reads from 35 folders and the other from 15 folders. My movie library (movie) (1.2tb, 1190 items in 160 folders) and my tv show library (show) (4.2tb, 19,594 items in 50 folders) both work fine, and 1 other library (show) 2.8tb, 18014 items in 223 folders

I'll also add that the 2 home video and photo libraries that do work are regularly pruned and don't contain many videos at any given time.

As I said in my previous post, I can get all of these libraries to work (other than audiobooks) if I limit the display view down from infinite to 10-15. I was playing with it after my previous post and I could inconsistently get it to display up to 30 at a time.

The update went well. Thanks to the team. I really hope this fix will be merged soon: https://github.com/jellyfin/jellyfin/pull/15979 and everything will finally be fine!

Are you adding the "persons" to the album using file meta tagging? The best way to add artists and album artists (they have different purposes in the app) is to add them to the music file's Artists and Album Artists tags. If more than one, separate them with a delimiter you have set up. By default, I think delimiters include the semi-colon ( ; ) in Jellyfin, so I use that. It's unlikely to appear in an artist or band name.

So tag the file with "Artist 1; Artist 2; Artist 3" where there are three performing artists. You will find the music for each artist in a Jellyfin search after a scan. Putting one or more in the Album Artists tag will also ensure it shows up in those artist's discography pages. You can also be certain that your artist data then travels with your files, regardless of what server or player you are using in the future. It's not just in a Jellyfin database.

Maybe you have no tags but you have scans set to get new information from an external provider? That may overwrite entries made in Jellyfin. I notice that Musicbrainz, etc. can overwrite details or add IDs, so I switch that off for some tags.

(I use Yate for meta tagging. It has a lot of power once you learn some of the additional features in it.)

    Thanks for the answer.
It is not the artist tag. I can see it is called "People". When you choose a album in the music library and select "Edit metadata" you can add people to the album. It was working in 10.10.7 but now in 10.11.6 the "People" data is gone after a library scan.
I have attached two images that might help Smiling-face

Ah, yes I misunderstood That is a little different... and pictures are helpful Grinning-face  I don't add deep credits to my tracks. But, I understand I could add all that information if I wanted to using a meta tagging app (Musicbrainz, Yate, etc.).

Were you using something like the Music Tags plugin in the previous installation to pick these up from tagged music files? https://github.com/jyourstone/jellyfin-musictags-plugin

DISCLAIMER: I have not used the Music Tags plugin myself, so I cannot say how well it works. But it looks relevant to your needs.

    10.11 is perfectly fine.

    Win 10
    Installed directly
    Xeon e-2224
    16Gb ram

The library which is a problem in 10.11 is over 600k files (photos /videos in multiple subfolders, about 30 at the first level then each of those has upto 150 subfolders with a final level of 1-5 folders ) totalling 28Tb

Yes that’s a lot, but the point is it works just fine on 10.10.7 without any issues.

I’d get if it didn’t work in 10.10.7 then it would be unreasonable to work in 10.11, but it does perfectly.

Update completed (with docker on a synology NAS from 10.10.7). No problem at all, the system seems more fluide and memory usage is clearly improved.
Thanks a lot for this great job.

After doing a fresh install, library scans still take hours. I have a 8000+ movie library, 600+ anime library and an 800+ album music library. I haven't loaded my TV library because of the already lengthy library updates. Is this a known issue? Are there any tips or tricks to improve library update times? As it is now, whenever I get a new episode of anime, I've got to wait for a 12+ hour library scan. I have a 10.10.7 instance that handles my full library (including TV) in a few minutes.

Loving the updates that have been coming. Once media is loaded everything is way snappier and fluid. The library update is the last hurdle for me. Looking forward to the coming releases.
