I think there is some race condition in the library scan code that can make scan hang.
I built a new LXC under Proxmox to run Jellyfin 10.11.6. I did not try any of the prior 10.11.X versions. I have a large number of movies (~1000) and tv episodes (~1900). I noticed that the CPU usage was going to 100% during the initial library scan and Jellyfin was either completely unresponsive from the web interface or slow and show no progress on the scan percentage. I had to kill the LXC several times, or stop and start jellyfin from the LXC shell. Sometimes the web interface would work even though the CPU was still at 100%. I noticed that the library scan would be stuck. A few times, it would get stuck around 29% and a few others at 58-60% even though I would leave it running for a long time. In addition to the hang while doing the initial scan, I would also experience hangs on both the Kodi client (Jellyfin addon) and the Jellyfin server when the sync would happen (on the partially scanned library). On the web interface, at Dashboard->General under the Performance section, I changed Parallel Library Task Limit to 1. Again, I started the scan of my library. Where it previous got stuck, I no longer heard my CPU fan start racing and the library scan completed without issue. This makes me believe that there is some contention between the several tasks while scanning over the database or some lock. My problem with the hang of the Jellyfin for Kodi sync queue also went away. I don't have a music or home video library, which seems to be a problem for others. Other than movie specials, my movies and tv shows are fully separated on different mounts. I do have several mount points for both movies and tv shows to keep kids material separate. The mounts are passed to the LXC from mounts on the Proxmox host. The mount points are served from OMV which is a VM on the same Proxmox host as the Jellyfin LXC.

Adding my complaint to the "now too damned slow to library scan" pile. As many have noted, everything was hunky-dory with 10.10x (library scans complete within 5 mins).
When I upgraded to 11.5, that went to a literal crawl, as an example the TV library scan now takes at least 45 minutes! Movies take at least 10 minutes. I then upgraded to 11.6 to see if that was addressed. Heck no, not even a minor improvement. Also, I don't know why some people keep "suggesting" doing library file restructures, or "if one library scans fine and the other(s) don't, ya doing something wrong," or "reduce your per-page display count," or whatever. That's irrelevant. If 10.10x worked perfectly fine and now there there are major performance degradation, that's an issue, full-stop. Especially when some here have also noted that downgrading back to 10.10x puts them back into proper functionality again. For context, my entire library - which, again, to beat a dead horse, worked/scanned perfectly fine under 10.10x - consists of: TV ~59000 episodes Movies ~9000 titles Music ~61000 tracks MV ~3500 videos

abpjf dateline='[url=tel:1770149757' Wrote: 1770149757[/url]'] Speaking sense! I’d love to upgrade to 10.11.x but the issue with the HM&P is a deal breaker. An “upgrade” should work at least as well as the previous release. With all the changes to the DB it really should’ve just had no new features just get that done and working right with all libraries first then build on that. I hope this is actually fixed soon.

Hello,
Thank you for this release of Jellyfin, version 10.11.6. I installed it on TrueNAS Scale using the SCALE Community App. Everything works fine except for the "Group movies into collections" option. I've enabled this option, but it's not working. Do you have any idea how to resolve this very frustrating problem? Thank you in advance for your help.

is it just me or is jellyfin web way slower on 10.11.6 than 10.10.7?
Music library loads slow, albums loads even slower and tracks may not start to play at all. Tried different browsers, tried the app, same happens, clean install of jellyfin server, waited to all scans was complete. 10.10.7 is snappy and everything loads way faster. On mobile apps like FinAmp and Steamyfin its snappy and works as expected. Basically any app that is just a web-wraper is slow like the website itself

@svein39 10.11.6 is fast for me on macOS. It is as fast or faster than 10.10.7. I also did a clean install.
Finamp (beta run through TestFlight) is extremely slow at syncing downloads with Jellyfin, but the developer of Finamp did say with his latest update at the end of December "We still don't recommend to upgrade to Jellyfin 10.11.x just yet!". I just wait for the sync to complete for playing local downloaded files on my iPhone. Once they are synced, Finamp is good.
