Updated on Windows 10. Update went smoothly. It feels like there are some minor performance tweaks, but overall it's still slow to the point where actually using it is a pain. It's even worse via API (using Supersonic as client). Loading Artists in my library takes insanely long as the client lazyloads, so I have to scroll, wait a few seconds, scroll...). Getting to letters in the middle of the alphabet is quite a challenge. My library has 1 586 Albums with 21 855 songs, music only, placed on NAS/SMB/1gbps, install, data and cache on SSDs.

Looking at other comments it seems 10.11.x is dead now for anyone who uses home videos and photos or a large collection?
Any chance of a 10.10.8 which purely fixes the security issue for people who can’t use 10.11.x? It’s not ideal to have to chose between a security hole or a broken server

@matt1984 I am not sure you will find answers to your questions here, as I have not seen Jellyfin developers jumping into any of these release threads to reply. (I could be wrong and maybe some participants are devs)
The Jellyfin Contacts section suggests that Matrix is their preferred way to communicate. Even their Discord server is bridged to their official Matrix rooms. https://jellyfin.org/contact/ Worth giving that a try if you need the official plans, or to suggest an idea. I'm not going to attempt 10.11 again at this point. Just too many issue that haven't been resolved. I'm hoping it's the Windows 8 of JellyFin and once 10.12 comes out no one wil remember this bump in the road. As for 10.12.... my wish list... please?

There won't be a new 10.10 release, we only support the latest release branch at all times and strongly suggest updating. There have been security fixes in previous 10.11 releases as well, including the first 10.11.0 one. If you so decide to keep using 10.10 we strongly suggest not exposing it to the internet.

It’s not that it’s a little slow browsing that library type, it’s that it’s so slow all the times I’ve tried it never actually finishes loading the folder. So you’re saying it’s better to upgrade and be non-functional than leave it in a working state? There’s no real point to a media server that won’t serve 40% of the media I have on it. I hope this is fixed properly with 10.12 / 12 as 10.11.x has been such a backwards step. For the many others having this issue have you found an alternative which works? |
