I am trying to setup jellyfin in a container on my NAS using the install wizard described here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5_ZrMKIJ_yw

The installation process seemed to complete the first time but I was left in a weird state with a spinning wheel and not much on the screen but “Back and Next”.
Hitting “Back” exited the web interface and “Next” took me to a page where I was supposed to select language and location but the drop down boxes were empty.

I tried installing again on the NAS by deleting the container and removing the image. Somehow I think some configuration data is still there because I was never prompted to create a password again.
Is there a better way to completely obliterate all jellyfin data on my NAS so that I can start over fresh?
Is there any problem using READ-ONLY as an option when specifying source directories? I really dont want jellyfin touching my files and hope it can stored required data elsewhere.

I also tried adding the library again from the web interface and noticed that I could not go deeper than one directory level on my NAS volume. I had no problem doing this on the install wizard through the container installation. If i enter the second level of the directory tree, the only visible options are “…” (takes me back up one level0 and “->” which also takes me back up one level.
I am hoping to specify two separate types of files like this “/myFiles/Movies” and “/myFiles/TV Shows” but I can only use “/myFiles” and that will force me to include a lot of other music files and scan many unnecessary directories.

Perhaps I am just wasting my time following that video, but it seems to have work for many people in the past.

That guide is quite old. Take a look at this guide in the walkthrough sub-forum.

Deleting the container will only delete the image. The host volume you specified to store /config is permanent and won't be deleted. You'd have to clear out that folder if you want to start over from scratch.

I deleted the container manager and all associated folders.
I am seeing lots of syntax errors when I pasted in the sample configuration data. I tried lining up the columns for parameters but there are still a lot of issue.
I wonder if part of the problem is the use of “” around my directory path because it contains spaces.

I tried another install with the wizard and it did not prompt me to create a user name. I was asked to choose which container I wanted to connect to via the web gui.
Apparently some persistent information is still lurking around somewhere.

Clear your browser data? Jellyfin-web caches aggresively.
