Play tracking disabled using VLC due to no valid external player selected

Using VLC as the external player, it would not do play tracking

Hi, ive been having this issue since multiple jellyfin android versions ago where if I chose VLC as the external player, play tracking would be disabled as notified by a toast notification upon returning from VLC back to the app. I've tried selecting VLC specifically in the client settings but to no avail. How can I fix this?

Any particular reason you are using external VLC instead of libVLC or exo?

I have the same problem. ExoPlayer doesn't work with some types of Dolby Vision, so I want to use VLC. It used to work, and now it doesn't. I'm getting the same error message.

Having the same problem. I want to use external VLC because it works while I'm on a call, I can still watch videos. MX Player does work correctly, but VLC doesn't.
