I loaded some films from a hard drive. I received the error message (Playback failed due to fatal player error). When I select the film strip logo, however, the film trailer will play.  Please advise in simple terms, I'm a newbie.

    Thanks.

Can you share both the server and ffmpeg logs that you find in the dashboard log section for when this error happens?

You can use a site like pastebin to share the logs here.

Just make sure to remove personal/private info from the logs such as external IP addresses.

Could you share the other set of logs. The ones without ffmpeg in the name.

Looks like a permissions issue maybe...

    All the same issue.

    Code:
file:F:\Fighting Elegy [Kenka erejî] (1966) [criterion 0269] mkv\Fighting Elegy.mkv: No such file or directory

Jellyfin doesn't have sufficient permissions to see or access the file.

It could also be some of the special characters in the name.

None of the files opened. Also, I selected Devices and Chrome was shown. Problem?

    Thanks much.

Stop Jellyfin and close the tray app. Then launch the tray app as administrator and start jellyfin. Does anything change?

On Windows, any service running in the background gets a small icon on the bottom-right of the screen. If you click on the carrot icon on the bottom, you'll see a list of icons for each service. Close the Jellyfin icon to close the server.
