    Hi,

My JF server is an Orange Pi 5 Plus (Rockchip RK358Nerd-face.
I have noticed that when transcoding a film encoded with Dolby Vision Profile, the image generated has a purple and green tint over it.

Here are a couple of screenshots. The Paramount should be familiar enough to help notice how the colours are clearly off.
The second scene has fires on the street and they are seen in a purple colour.

When I play this content on an Amazon Fire Stick 4K Max, the colours show as expected, but in this case, this is using DirectPlay.
When I play the content on Google Chrome, iOS/Android apps, Android TV, on which transcoding kicks in, I get these funny colours on the image.

I had tone mapping configured with the default values, but I have also tried disabling it completely and the results are the same.

Other content in 4K HVEC plays just fine, but I've noticed these files are all in SDR video range.

The source of the problem might be elsewhere, but I thought this was a reasonable guess.
Is transcoding of DOVI content supported on Rockchip?
Is there something else that you recommend I should try?

    thanks Smiling-face

Do you have tone mapping enabled?

Rockchip hardware transcoding is not compatible with dolby vision due to rkmpp decoder limitations, unfortunately.

Currently the Rockchip MPP decoder cannot parse DOVI metadata correctly. This may be fixed in the future. For now, it is recommended that you play HDR10/Profile 8 videos instead.

The issue happens when tone mapping is turned on and turned off.

Oh, that makes a lot of sense then.
I've been reading about Dolby Vision and see that Profile 8 has an HDR fallback for cross-compatibility, hence your recommendation as an alternative.
Profile 5 is not currently supported by Rockchip, so I better avoid that for the time being.

All in all, HDR10 is the safest bet Smiling-face

Thanks very much for your quick replies!
