Questions about Jellyfin for Roku

Hello! I am sharing my Jellyfin server with a friend who has a Roku. I don't have a Roku, so I have some questions:

1.) Does Jellyfin for Roku still not currently direct play .ass subtitles, causing them to be burned in?

2.) Are there other options for playing media with .ass subtitles without any CPU-intensive processes? For example, is there a way to use an external player such as Nova Video Player or VLC Media Player? I know this is possible on Jellyfin for Android TV.

The Roku app does not have the ability to direct play ASS/SSA subtitles, and the Roku does not allow for an external player.
