Do you happen to know what streams 3 and 4 are? For this testing I'm just going to drop them. We'll also need to convert the teletext to SRT, since MP4 doesn't support that subtitle codec.

I find it odd that live TV plays but not the recorded file. HD live TV does play a bit jerky though.

I tested on my Samsung TV. I have side-loaded the Jellyfin Tizen app into my older Samsung (so it doesn't support anamorphic) but the recorded TV played on that. Live TV gave a circle of death though.

This is getting more frustrating by the day. I appreciate the help so far but I seem to be getting nowhere. Let me try and consolidate everything so far and see if someone can assist with a solution.
I am running Jellyfin V12.1 in a docker container on Ubuntu 26.04.1 LTS server. Live TV is via HDHomerun and I am in Australia so receiving DVB-T transmissions. Live TV / Recorded TV has been a headache all along. My desktop is running Linux Mint V22.3. Australian TV networks have a primary channel and several secondary channels. For this I will use our channel 7 network as an example. If I try and view live TV from the browser (Firefox) I experience the following: Viewing live TV on Channel 7 is fine. Viewing live TV on one of the secondary 7 network channels gives an immediate playback error and no FFmpeg transcode logs are generated. Recording from the primary channel is fine but playing it back results in the 'circle of death' Recording from the secondary channels doesn't happen. If I use the desktop client things change: Viewing live TV on Channel 7 causes it to hang before any video plays - I have to exit the client. Viewing live TV on one of the secondary 7 network channels gives an immediate playback error and no FFmpeg transcode logs are generated. Playback of recorded TV from the primary channel works fine Recording from the secondary channels doesn't happen. I have attached a copy of my docker_compose.yml file and screenshots of how transcoding is set up. HD Homerun is set up with Allow hardware transcoding enabled. I have fiddled with settings and still get nowhere. Hopefully condensing the issues to one post will help shed light on the problem. Any help greatly appreciated.

Oops. I missed your update from a few days ago.
Let's go one step further and remove the subtitle stream. Something about it isn't getting recorded correctly or something, based on that error message. Code: /usr/lib/jellyfin-ffmpeg/ffmpeg -fflags +genpts+igndts -i "/recordings/Get Clever/Season 3/Get Clever S03E04 Series 3, Episode 4.ts" -map 0:v -map 0:a -c:v copy -c:a copy -max_muxing_queue_size 2048 -avoid_negative_ts disabled -max_interleave_delta 0 "/recordings/Get Clever/Season 3/Get Clever S03E04 Series 3, Episode 4.mp4"If that works, that should at least prove that the audio and video is fine and that the subtitles are the problem.

Unfortunately during my attempts to get somewhere I deleted the Get Clever episode. It was broadcast on a channel called 7Flix but now 7Flix doesn't play at all and won't record anything. Trying to view the channel gives this error:
Playback Error There was an error processing the request. Please try again later. No attempt to play, circle of death, nothing, just straight to that message. Trying to record it and the guide says the show is scheduled to record, but nothing happens. The main channel, 7 Digital, plays fine and records OK in the browser but will not play the recording in the browser. The recording plays in the desktop client without issue but will not play live TV in the desktop client. I'm completely stumped.
I just tried to access 7Flix directly from HD Homerun and it does download in mpeg and it is playable in a video player (Celluloid by default in Mint) so the tuner looks fine. Jellyfin fails to play or record it, amongst other channels...
I put the 7Flix clip from HD Homerun into KDENLIVE and the properties of the file are attached. For comparison the properties of the 7Digital recording are also attached. |
