    Hi all

I'd like to use the JF app on my Android smartphone to control the JF App on my Nokia Streaming Box. Connection works, browsing works but when it come to playing back music, the UI doesn't seem to offer what I would expect. As I'm not sure if this is expected behaviour or me not understanding the concept or a defect, I'd like to ask for clarification.

The first screenshot below shows a list of songs from an album. I'd expect to start playing a specific song my tipping on it. However, no matter where i tip, it's always the first song starting to play.
To achieve what I want I have to open the context menu tipping the 3 dots and select "play" (Abspielen). From an UX point of view, as this seems to be the most used function, I find this contra intuitive and not very user friendly.

So, did I miss something or is this indeed how the app is built to work?

Furthermore, at some point during a listening session I regulary "loose" the "player view" as shown in the bottom of the first screenshot (no volume, no play/pause, not forward no rewind). Why is that? A known issue or me missing anoher thing?

Finally: The volume control is a very small slider which on a small screen can't be controlled precisly. From an UX point of view, offering a minus and plus button to the left and right of the slider to increase and adjust by defined steps would make volume control a lot easier.

Thanks a lot for sharing your knowhow and experience!

Is there a better place to get support for the JF mobile app than this forum?
Is there a better mobile app to control JF than the official JF app? Any suggestions?

Not a lot of us use Jellyfin in this manner, so most of us don't have any experience with it. Or even comparable devices.

Submit a report on the jellyfin-chromecast github and see what the dev says.

    https://github.com/jellyfin/jellyfin-chromecast/issues
    Jellyfin 12.2 (Docker)
    Debian 13 w/Xanmod amd64v3 LTS kernel
    AMD Ryzen 5500 w/32GB DDR4
    Intel Arc A380
    OS drive - SK Hynix P41 1TB
    ZFS Storage pool
        vdev1 - 6x WD Red Pro 6TB CMR in RAIDZ1
        vdev2 - 3x WD Red Pro 18TB CMR in RAIDZ1

How then do you control a JF box?

Or how does a reference setup look like if one has an amp, a media player box connected to it and a JF instance running in the network and wants to pla music on the media player from JF with a screen attached to the media player box (it's a project setup and it just doesn't make sense to start the projector to stream some music)?

My Android TV device comes with a remote. As do Roku devices.

I'm not sure any of the moderator team still has a "dumb", non-Android TV Chromecast. I definitely didn't have one by the time I started using Jellyfin.
