Show names are  "Hellsing" & "Hellsing Ultimate"

    These are different shows.

    Folder Structure is

    %/anime/shows/Hellsing (2001)/season 1/Hellsing - S01E01 - Episode Name
    &
    %/anime/shows/Hellsing Ultimate (2006)/Hellsing Ultimate - S01E01 - Ep Name

In Jellyfin, no matter what I try, it groups them together as one show, one season, but with two of each episode #. You can manually identify it as one show or the other, but it carries the episodes into the same listing either way

    Things I have tried:

    1. Adding one show before the other
    2. Adding year of show to folder name
    3. Deleting the show thru Jellyfin (this is really interesting, as it only deleted Hellsing (2001) folder, and the Hellsing ultimate listing persists in JF UI)
    4. Manually editing the NFO's to reflect the correct show name
    5. I tried manually editing the Metadata in an episode, but you can't change the show name in this field.
    6. I manually changed the show name in the metadata editor

    I'm totally stumped.

Of course I spend all the time to write this out and find a solution 10 minutes later.

    The solution is:

Hamburger -> Metadata -> Browse to the folder itself (both tagged as hellsing ultimate in my case)

Then instead of manual edit - click the 3 stacked dots top right -> Indentify, select the 2001 version of the show, re-download media... & Finally, a 3 hour journey ends.

Hopefully someone can learn from my pain.

You will have to use the "Identify" option and input the AniDB/MovieDB/TVDB ID number for each show. I've had to do this for a couple animes as well.

Edit: This is what happens when you forget about a tab being open. You found the solution yourself.

Thanks for the response anyways, I can't believe how much time i blew on this one LOL. Anime's and JF can really get funky sometimes.

I didn't have this option in the library as there was only one show to identify. So whenever I manually edited it would switch both shows at once over to the other show, still pooling them together. (Apparently JF doesn't care much about folders)

The trick was actually going into the metadata tab where apparently there JF DOES care about folders, and then identifying them there.

If you haven't already, try installing the AniDB plugin. I find the metadata is more complete for Anime. But they don't tend to group seasons together. Especially if the second season has its own name (like Ghost in the Shell SAC). So each SAC season is a separate full entry. Ranma 1/2 is just one massive season in AniDB.
