The JMP plays it completely fine. I have problems using the web player in windows Chrome, I just get a spinning circle and it freezes Chrome. It's the same with Android web player if I use the integrated player It will play audio but no picture.

I have to untick VC1 on the server side then it plays in Chrome in Windows and on my Android phone. It shows it's transcoding into H264.

    CPU is i5 6600k.

Edit: Unticking Prefer OS native DXVA or VA-API hardware decoders. Let's me play it on Windows Chrome and on my Android phone. By Unticking it the film will transcode to H264.

Can you share your jellyfin logs via pastebin? If there are ffmpeg logs (there probably are), share one via pastebin.

And screenshots of Dashboard > Playback > Transcoding

I can't share anything as no logs are generated as when I hit play it freezes before anything gets logged. And as the film doesn't start there is no info.

This is the film info when playing in JMP

It's strange it plays straight away in that player but not with the web or Android players.

The last picture is when I unticked Prefer OS native DXVA or VA-API.

Can you share the ffmpeg log after you've unchecked DXVA?

Looks like the VC-1 DXVA exposed by your GPU driver has a bug which will hang your entire OS. I do recommend using native DXVA while disable VC-1 hardware decode if the CPU usage is reasonable because the non-native decoder has less features for the codecs that works. You can try update your GPU driver first though.

Surely if it was a bug then it shouldn't work in JFMP?

It's definitely a Codec problem not my cpu, just downloaded MPV on my phone and it plays fine. VLC plays just the Audio.

JMP will fallback to software decoding which is the same behavior as MPV on Android. It is just software decoding on the client side instead of on the server side, and for some reason dxva decode failed on your system which I believe to be a driver issue. All the cases that appears working are not using the server side dxva decoding.
