In my case I want to transcode my 4k movie to a lower bitrate, but no matter which setting I choose on my androidtv it does not change anything? The media still gets directstreamed? Am I the only one with this issue?

What is the source file's bit rate? Can you share the media info for this movie? It will only lower the bitrate if you select one below the source file's native bitrate. For example, if you select 25Mbps but the source file has a bitrate of 20Mbps nothing will happen.

The bitrate is about 80Mbps and if i change it for example to 10mbps nothing happenes or changes.

Which Jellyfin server version are you running? I'm assuming you are running AndroidTV version 0.16?

The Server is 10.8.3 and the app 0.16.1

If you are running 10.8.3 and this isn't a typo for .13, try upgrading your server.

Just double checked and my 0.16.1 client, 10.8.13 server, transcodes when the selected bit rate is lower than the video.

Sorry, my fault, i mean I run Server version 10.8.13.
Thats really strange why transcoding is not working in my case.
