Yes of course, all videos can be played on an USB disk. Again, the problem is not with the TV itself. The problem is with Jellyfin DLNA server or how the TV interracts with it.

What you can do is create a custom DLNA profile for your TV, which will define what your TV is capable of reading. Right now it is using a generic profile while may or may not work for your TV.

Jellyfin can't change how the TV behaves except for what I stated above. DLNA is proprietary and abandoned protocol (as of 2017).

Thanks. I didn't know DLNA was proprietary and abandoned. I will try your suggestion to create a specific DLNA profile for the TV.

@tatooin did you manage to make it work on your Samsung TV through DLNA?

Hi, I have the same problem. A lot of MP4 files can be played on my old Samsung TV with “Mini-dlna” without transcoding. With Jellyfin it either doesn't work at all or only with transcoding, but then you can't rewind and fast forward on my TV.
I have a solution that works for me:
From the XML file “Samsung Smart TV” the section “<CodecProfiles> ... </CodecProfiles>” must be completely removed. Then the Smart TV plays all MP4 files as they are.
