SOLVED: Jellyfin media player Windows 11 hdr/dolby vision playback issues

Hallo everyone, 

I recently discovered Jellyfin, and I really like it. But I have noticed that the picture quality is slightly less appealing than compared to playing the file through vlc player. The picture is slightly white, but not that disgustingly white like when it's playing hdr/dv content on non hdr/dv device. It is just a little slightly whiter than it should be. And even more interestingly, when I cast it from jellyfin media player to jellyfin mpv shim (on the same device), it plays like in vlc, as it should, with proper colouring. Does anybody have an idea how to play it through jellyfin media player same like through vlc and jellyfin mpv shim?

My setup is i5 7400, rx 550 4gb, 8gb ram ddr4, playing directly locally from my pi 4 nas connected through ethernet to my home network, same as pc which is running the server and running the client as well, and watching it on my oled 4k hdr dolby vision capable panasonic 65-inch tv, connected through hdmi 2.0b cable.

Thx for any input. I've already clicked on every possible display/playback setting in jellifin media player..

JMP cannot display HDR due to the way the rendering pipeline works. On SDR TVs/monitors JMP will locally tone map. That doesn't appear to be the case when it is connected to a HDR TV.

You will need to use MPV Shim to get the most out of your HDR TV.
