SOLVED: Metadata scraping kinda inconsistent.

Greetings,

My music metadata is not perfect, I've collected a lot of different albums from different sources over the years. I've added my Music folder to Jellyfin as a Media library and have been making updates here and there trying to organize it better. I'm noticing some inconsistent behavior with Jellyfin and so I'm hoping for some suggestions.

Here is an example of how I have the Music folder organized:

This is working for the vast majority (over 300 albums, 8000 tracks) of music. I've got a few band folders that are being difficult. When I click the band from the Album Artists page you get a blank folder image on the left and no logo on the top even though, as you can see, the folder.jpg and logo.jpg are located in that bands folder.

Also what is the best way to label a self-titled album? A couple of my problem folders have a self-titled album and I'm wondering if that isn't causing Jellyfin to be confused. What's odd is it sometimes seems to work itself out after some time but I'd really rather have a way to force an instant change myself. I sometimes make several changes with Picard and so its better to have instant update so I can catch any errors.

Refresh Metadata > Scan for new and updated files seems to sometimes work but I also find it to work inconsistently when I've updated id tags with Picard. For example I had this track from a particular album that would not refresh the Album Artist ID3 field until I first removed the field all together in the file and then re-added it instead of editing the value of the field.

Picking this option removed the .jpgs that I manually added to the folder. Is there anything in the logs that I could focus on that you may be aware of? I did notice some timeouts trying to hit MusicBrainz but I thought maybe that was a daily limit that I was hitting.

Is your music library configured to write images to your media directories? If so, try disabling that. I think Jellyfin will not attempt to replace the existing image in the directory if you do NOT have that setting enabled.

From my experience, as long as the files are tagged correctly (I use Picard) Jellyfin has no issues organizing the music as tagged. Additionally, if these are FLAC files then ID3 tags are kind of pointless. I configured Picard to purge ID3 tags from FLAC files it updates.

I do have some .flac files but those are working correctly, these five bands I'm having issues with have their music in .mp3 format.

"Save artwork into media folders" is selected so I will disable that. I think my fix may be a combination of turning that off, and then manually uploading the folder.jpg and logo.jpg from the Jellyfin interface which is located under the three dots > edit images for the Artist tile under Album Artists. Works okay since I have a small number of bands I'm having issues with. Any who thanks for taking the time to offer up some suggestions.
