SOLVED: Playback failed due to a fatal player error.

Upgraded Jellyfin Windows Server yesterday and now am getting a playback error across all platforms, devices.

Log below ... issue is clearly related to FFmpeg. I have other software that require FFmpeg so I cannot simply delete all other copies of it from my system.

I've tried to edit the windows environment variables but may have the syntax wrong. I have tried to edit encoding.xml as well, but on each Jellyfin restart it rewrites the ffmpeg entry to default.

It's saying permission denied but permissions were set properly before the update and the media files all show in the frontend.

Any ideas?

So, I've confirmed all the Jellyfin permissions are right. It's actually ffmpeg that doesn't appear to have permission. From Jellyfin's log:

Is the F drive a network share, though? Also, does the jellyfin server process run as "JellyfinUser"?

It's a network share but it doesn't play locally either. JellyfinUser is the Jellyfin user acount. The windows service is configured to logon as JellyfinUser. I have no problem accessing Jellyfin .. the media shares all show on all devices. It's only playback that's affected and only since I upgraded to 10.9.11 ... was working fine before the upgrade.

I just bit the bullet and uninstalled and reinstalled. All working now. I suspect it had something to do with having it installed as a service through NSSM originally and the native service overwriting on the update.

I am running a headless server so service is necessary.
