i dont think it does what you think it does

unless i am wrong, jellycon does not facilitate direct import from jellyfin to kodi https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/clients/kodi

syncing libraries is possible with the 'jellyfin' addon but i have never used it for music so still no guarantee

Thanks for your input. I've been reading https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/clients/kodi of course before making a decision about which addon to use.

I don't want to sync anything nor do i want to import data into Kodi client. I just want to use Kodi on my home pc to play music which is located on my Jellyfin server in my home network.

My problem is the connection between Jellyfin server and Kodi client which cannot be established.
    Server: Intel Celeron J4125, 8GB RAM, 1TB SSD, running Dietpi-OS (Debian/Bookworm-based)
    Home-PC: Lenovo Ideacentre, i5-7400, 32GB RAM, 256 GB SSD, Kubuntu 18.04
    Notebook: Lenovo T460s, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, Kubuntu 22.04

I think you're confused about how Kodi works with our clients.

To link Kodi to your Jellyfin server, you have to use one of our addons, either Jellyfin for Kodi or JellyCon. Jellyfin for Kodi is what syncs things into the local database, so that's not the one you want. JellyCon is all dynamic and requests data in real time, which sounds like it's what you want. And you got through the speedtest, which seems as though it's working as intended now. But that last screenshot you sent has nothing to do with Jellyfin at all. Unless I'm misinformed (being not in english makes it a little bit harder on my side), that's the "add library" menu in Kodi itself. This is not going to work. You have to go through our addons to reach the server. Having them installed doesn't magically tell Kodi how to interact with our API, unfortunately. You can now access your music library (or any jellyfin libraries, for that matter) by going to Add-ons -> Video Add-ons -> JellyCon -> Jellyfin Libraries and selecting what you're looking for.

NOW we have it. THAT was my general misconception of these things: As i have been using Kodi on desktop before i thought i need to choose my libraries in some Kodi-"Add source"-dialog after establishing connection between server and client.

Okay. Problem solved. I can play music now... :-)

@mcarlton00.... again big thanks for you help and your patience... :-)
