Sort by "Date Added" doesn't work

I think this has been an on-going issue with media stored on a SMB share.  When I put new movies into the movie folder, the sort by "date added" usually won't show the new movie on top.  The first two rolls have some of the recent movies, but not all?  It's kinda random what old stuff it puts on the top listings for most recent.  I still haven't figured out the rhyme or reason.  It's not an ascending/descending issue, and I think previous discussion concluded that it's because the media is on a samba share?

Any updates?  I'm on 10.8.9.
