This was great read with so much to look forward to in 12.0

I’m particularly pleased there’s finally some official word on the issues with home videos and photos being worked on which means I should finally be able to upgrade to a fully functional version which will be amazing.
Great to see the new client for android TV is being held until 12 is out, especially since it will require at least 10.11 which is problematic for a lot of people.
Also pleased a client is being worked on for VegaOS.

Can’t wait for confirmation dealbreaker issues are fixed in 12 so I can upgrade!

Will upgrading from 10.10.7 to 12 work? I recall previous upgrades that required certain incremental upgrades if you were multiple minor versions behind.

Also, can anyone testing 12 who had issues with 10.11.x confirm that all library types are working and synchronizing properly with Jellyfin for Kodi?

Being as 12.0 builds are "Unstable" a lot of plugins are not working. From my experience 12.0 "unstable" will not even link via Jellycon. It just crashes out, refusing to connect. The builds I have tested work pretty well overall on everything else. Dare I say, much better than 10.11.X builds even throughout the messy 10.11.X lifespan. Though, one of the latest builds was giving me the freeze during playback bug again that is in 10.11.X as well. So, unless there is a major fix for everything before "Stable" 12.0 drops, I don't know if that will be fixed. Because 12.X "Stable", from my understanding is when another wave of bugs are suppose to be worked on and fixed. 12.X will be basically a improvement over 10.11.X but still buggy in areas.

We do not support skipping of major releases. So if you're at 10.10.x you will need to update to the latest 10.11 release before going to 12.

Something I'm curious about now that the database refactoring is underway. I know there's a POSTGres exprimental container out there floating about, but is there anything going on regarding getting potential alternate DB type in JF currently? Also glad to hear about 13 being focused on scanning. Doing some great work everyone!

    Thanks for the clarification!

Really looking forward to it. Especially the tweaks to the library query handling, since I'm one of the people where the things 10.11.x broke made some libraries and features (like "Add to Collection") unusable thanks to probably timeouts that never bubble up into the log file.
Was afraid the mention of a 12.x would mean that we'd first have to suffer through an entire 11.x.y generation before those fixes reach us.
    In case of troubleshooting context:
Always latest stable installed on Win 11 Pro driven by Ryzen 7 5700X 8-core with 32GB and an RTX 3060.

Thank you for the update. The database improvements are much appreciated. I am personally hoping that Postgres support is still in the cards.
