    I am running Jellyfin on a local network only. I have no intention of streaming outside my network and I have Allow remote connections to this server turned off.

    Server Specs:
    Lenovo Thinkcentre M93 Tiny Desktop
    * Intel Core i5-4670T 2.3GHz
    * 16GB DDR3
    * 256GB Solid State Drive
    * Running Linux Mint 21.2 - Cinnamon 5.8.4

    Jellyfin Version: 10.8.11

    Fire Stick 2nd Gen(not 4k) OS 5.2.9.5

    Logs: https://sourceb.in/BIMKnPW6wT

    Issue: I have jellyfin app on the fire stick, and whenever I try to play a video - the screen stays black for 20-30 seconds, then will play the video for at most 20 seconds, until it will stop and buffer for another 20 seconds until playing, and this will keep looping. The playback bar slowly fills up if you pause it, but it is really really slow.

    What I have tried:
     I have tried the following transcode hardware acceleration options in the Jellyfin dashboard: None(off), intel quicksync, video acceleration API, video4linux2
    I have tried the different playback options in the firestick jellyfin app, exoPlayer, VLC, etc,
    Edit: I forgot, I also ran intel-gpu-tools and only Render/3D ever went over 40%, but never went over 50% for more than a few seconds

    The videos I am trying to play are mkv files, however I have tried converting them to h.264 mp4 and Video for MPEG4 1080p TV/device using VLC, and same issue or didn't play at all.

    I do not know if it is my server specs that are not good, or my fire stick is too old, but I do not want to replace one only for it to be the other. Any guidance is appreciated.

    Haswell's iGPU isn't supported. Something about Intel's media driver not supporting it, meaning no Quick Sync.

    Your CPU just won't cut it for any transcoding at HD resolutions.
    Jellyfin 10.10.7 (Docker)
    Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS w/HWE
    Intel i3 12100
    Intel Arc A380
    OS drive - SK Hynix P41 1TB
    Storage

    ah ok, that is what I was afraid of. Thank you. Do you happen to know of any small all-in-one computers like the lenovo I just bought that would support it? If not I can start doing some research. Is it just a matter of getting better than a 4th gen intel chip?

    8th Gen Intel and newer is the suggested CPU. You can find surplus office PCs with 8th Gen+ Intel CPUs for dirt cheap.
