    Hi everyone,

I'm experiencing an issue with playing .mkv files on my Samsung TV using the Jellyfin app for Tizen OS. I would like to report this problem and seek assistance in resolving it. Below are the details of my setup and a description of the issue:

    Jellyfin.Server version: 10.8.10.0
Installation method: I installed Jellyfin using the instructions provided on the https://jellyfin.org/downloads/server website for Ubuntu.
Issue description: When I try to play .mkv files through the Jellyfin app on my Samsung TV, the playback frequently stutters. The video and audio keep freezing, making it difficult to watch smoothly. This problem only occurs when playing .mkv files.
Additional details: I have tested playback on other devices such as PC, iPhone, and MacBook, and the issue of stuttering playback does not occur on those devices.
Here are the specifications of my system
    OS: Ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS x86_64
Host: HP t620 Quad Core TC
    Kernel: 5.19.0-32-generic
    Uptime: 18 hours, 52 mins
    Packages: 1793 (dpkg), 11 (snap)
    Shell: bash 5.1.16
    Terminal: /dev/pts/0
    CPU: AMD GX-415GA SOC (4) @ 1.500GHz
GPU: AMD ATI Radeon HD 8330E
    Memory: 1686MiB / 15427MiB
I would also like to share the output of "ffmpeg -i" for the files I'm trying to play. You can find the details in the following links:
    https://pastebin.com/PdzZgZzp
    https://pastebin.com/vmT8bxGd

I kindly request your assistance in resolving this issue. If you have any suggestions or advice regarding configurations or settings that may help with proper playback of .mkv files on my Samsung TV using the Jellyfin app, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you in advance for your time and any help provided.

    Best regards

My first guess would be that you have video transcoding disabled. You tested on other devices and it works fine, so I would think it's not the server or the video file. If you have video transcoding disabled for the user, then your samsung TV is trying to direct play it, but maybe doesn't support the codec/container. (might be the mkv container, or video codec, or even the audio codec).

I would try enabling video transcoding for that user and see if that helps.

Here are my settings for my global user - https://i.imgur.com/uzgJC2M.png
I have no idea why my dashboard is in Polish, but here's translation:
    Allow media playback
Allow playback of audio that requires transcoding
Allow playback of video that requires transcoding
Allow playback of video that requires conversion without re-encoding
Force transcoding of external media sources like live TV

    Thanks for a post

Would you please post the whole contents of the ffmpeg logfile in pastebin?

    Hi Venson
Here's pastebin file with full logs, I didn't trim it because I might delete something important, but I launched TV and played a show around 21:00 on logs. Thank you

    EDIT:
I forgot to put them, lol

This is, unfortunately, the wrong log. That is your server log. Venson is asking for the ffmpeg log for the stream in question. You can find it in the logs section of your server dashboard.

He however will not find any because according to the log, the playback at 21:00 was DLNA DirectPlay.

@Banaszi is your TV connected via WiFi? if so try connecting it via a Lan cable and try again.

My current setting is Samsung TV connected via LAN cable to router, but the server is connected via Wifi. This might be the case?

Hi! I was out of town so I couldn't check your solution immedietaly, so I did it today, but with no results. FFMPEG logs are generating if I play a video on PC, but it seems that playing it on Samsung TV does not. Please help.
