Subtitles on ROKU

I have subtitles in the folder for a movie. When I play the movie the subtitle doesn't show up in my subtitles list. Can anyone tell me how to fix this? I have numerous folders that have this problem. I would greatly appreciate a way to correct this!

Can you provide examples of how you named the movies and the subtitle files?

The movie and the subtitle files have the same name except the subtitle file has the .srt after the file name.
