Swiftfin on iOS won't play Live TV.

Either gets stuck on "Retrieving Media Information" or just closes back to Channel List

I'm running Jellyfin on a Synology DS224+ with Jellyfin server version 10.9.9. and everything is working brilliantly.  I've got hardware decoding set up and working and Swiftfin even manages to start playing my 4K content on my iPhone flawlessly - literally takes 2 seconds to start.

The one thing it doesn't do, for whatever reason, is play Live TV.

As I said in the description, it's either stuck on "Retrieving Media Information" or I just get a black screen and after a few minutes it just dumps back to the Channel List.

The full Jellyfin iOS Mobile app works and plays Live TV just fine, but I do prefer Swiftfin personally so I'd be grateful if anyone has any ideas.

I'm running iOS 18 Beta 6 on it at the moment as well if anyone thinks that might make a difference ?

Can you share your full jellyfin log via pastebin?

If it is working on our iOS Mobile app, but not Swiftin, that almost certainly means the server is working properly. But I want to take a look at the log to verify before I send you over to the Swiftfin github to report a bug.

Ok, hope I've done this correctly. What I tried to do to make it easier to pinpoint is access the Live TV tab from Swiftfin on the stroke of 11pm (here in the UK). Let me know if you need me to do it again.

I left it ticking over for 1 minute as it was stuck on "Retrieving Media Information" again.

Could you post the full log? The point of looking at the full log isn't to just find the specific log messages for your problem, but also to try to gleam some information about the general health of your server, seemingly unrelated messages that may actually indicate the actual problem, hints at how your setup is configured without having to ask a thousand questions.

I can confirm that the same behavior is observed on Swiftfin, whether using the native or Swiftfin player. Live TV works on the iOS mobile app.

I'm using the latest stable iOS version, 17.6.1, so the beta isn't the problem.

Hmmmm. One of the Swiftfin devs is indicating this is a server issue.

The error messages don't seem to match. In that issue, the original poster couldn't get LiveTV to work on any Jellyfin clients, only on VLC. In this case, the errors appear to be different, and LiveTV functions correctly on all other clients.

Submit a swiftfin github issue at this point. I know we don't have a lot of Swiftfin users, but I'm surprised you two are the first to notice this issue since the last Swiftfin release was in June.

I'll go ahead and submit an issue to that repo. To be honest, I don't use my iOS device with Jellyfin, so I hadn't noticed this before.

    Edit: Issue submitted.

Thankyou.  I'd have probably messed that up as well Smiling-face
