@TheDreadPirate I did not. I apologize if I misunderstood and was supposed to do that. I was just interpreting commands I found on various support threads for file ownership for Jellyfin, throwing commands at the wall to see if anything stuck. I don't want to break anything.

If I need to undo all those ACL commands, would you be so kind as to provide a list of commands to run in their full syntax so I don't make things worse?

Again I really appreciate all your help. I'm hoping to get the system scanned by tonight so that I can begin to tackle the restructuring of my media folders to separate television from cinema so that Jellyfin interprets the metadata correctly.

I ran that command and the HDD churned for 10-15 minutes and then returned a terminal prompt with no error message displayed. Running the same name command for the same test file I see:

I stopped the non-responsive scan in Jellyfin and restarted the server and signed back in. Then I clicked on "Scan all libraries" in the Libraries pane. It's still showing 0%.

Is the library simply pointed to / and not the actual media directory?

@TheDreadPirate I double checked and verified that the only assigned Library is the folder we were discussing. Here's a snapshot of the Library configuration in Jellyfin with the folder shown.



I tried removing and re-adding the folder a few times, both by navigating to the folder via the interface and by pasting the folder path directly into the field. Both methods are accepted but the progress wheel spins indefinitely and the percentage in the Dashboard in an adjacent window sits idle at 0%. 

Forgive me if I'm doing something wrong but I hope it's a simple fix.

Delete this library then go to /var/lib/jellyfin/root/default (I think that is correct, going from memory) and delete any folders in there associated with this library.

Once you've done that, re-add the library.

I know it's likely unnecessary in a Linux environment, but I'm going to try removing the folder, rebooting the PC completely, then signing in and re-adding the folder. Stand by.

Okay - I stopped the scan in the interface, removed the folder from the library, restarted the server, shut down and restarted the PC, launched a fresh session of Jellyfin, added the folder by copying and pasting the folder path directly into the field which was accepted, and the scan initialized. Still hanging at 0%.
