Are you asking how to get Jellyfin to recognize your local images instead of downloading them?

If so, you need to make sure they are given the correct file name. Read the documentation linked below.

    https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/server...ws/#images
    Jellyfin 10.10.7 (Docker)
    Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS w/HWE
    Intel i3 12100
    Intel Arc A380
    OS drive - SK Hynix P41 1TB
    Storage
4x WD Red Pro 6TB CMR in RAIDZ1

What library type did you use for your videos? If you used a Shows or Movie library type you will need to switch to Photos or Music Videos, which will show only the thumbnail.

If this is just a personal video that can't be looked up from a database. My suggestion would be get something like MediaElch. Scan the directory, select the file in MediaElch, then hit the little camera icon under where the thumbnail would be. It will randomly snapshot a point in the video. If you don't like that it can be pressed again and find another random spot. After finding a good one, save and it will save that thumbnail to the folder. It will also generate a NFO file and other things too.

The other way would be just capture the screen yourself and save the file with a matching name as the video.

I understand that these are personal videos. I was asking which library type did you select in Jellyfin. Some library types will ALWAYS attempt to lookup metadata (Shows, Movies, Music). But there are library types that do not lookup metadata that are better suited for personal videos. Like the photos and music video library types.

For the episode images, just go to the library and disable all image metadata sources. Then just leave the screen image grabber enabled to get an image right from the video itself.

Or could the question be refering to the library image?
