Trickplay creates chapters

Whats the difference in chapter images and trickplay images if both create chapters and preview images for them? Ienabled trickplay image generation and now all of my films/shows have a timeline which is divided in areas (chapters), if i scrub through the timeline it shows the chapter (can get up to 1000+ for a long film). Is there a way to get trickplay images without creating 1000 chapters and cluttering the timeline? Ideally without showing these chapter markers in the timeline at all.

There's a misunderstanding here. Trickplays will not create chapter tick marks. Trickplays just appear when you hover over the scrub timeline.

As for the chapter markers you have, you have set a really low dummy chapter interval in your dashboard. Dummy chapters are "fake" chapters that Jellyfin creates over videos that don't have any embedded chapters.
Go to "Dashboard > Libraries > Metadata > Chapter Images" and set your dummy chapter image interval to a sane number or disable them by setting it to 0.

You'll need to go into your config folder to find and delete the existing chapter files, then rescan your library to fix the current videos with all those dummy chapters.
