Hello,

I just looked at my dashboard to check the runnung tasks, and there i noticed that Jellyfin is generating Trickplay Images while scanning the libraries at the same time.

For not a single library I selected to generate Trickplay Images, so why is Jellyfin doing it anyways?

In addition i in the log i found several such entries "2026-10-02 04:48:38.740 +02:00] [INF] [58] Emby.Server.Implementations.Chapters.ChapterManager: Stopping chapter extraction for "Happy.Face.S01E08" because a chapter was found with a position greater than the runtime." 

I never chose for any library to create or extract any chapter images, so why do i see these log entries?

There is a scheduled task to generate trickplays for libraries that have trickplay enabled.  This would be separate from the library scan.

Same with chapter images, there is a separate scheduled task to run it.

For both of these, one of your libraries has one or both enabled.  I did some testing and verified that if both are fully disabled then those jobs will finish instantly.

Sorry for the late answer. Was gone all day. I just went through all media library settings again and , as i said, Trickplay images or Chapter images are for non of my libraries activated.
Library Scan is still running (uninterrupted since yesterday local time 12:30 roughly, now it is 18:15 local time the day after).
The server folder of version 12.1 is roughly double the size compared to the backup server folder of my 10.10.7 version.

WERE they enabled when the library scan started? My understanding is that Jellyfin creates a queue of tasks that it needs to perform. Unless you restart the server that queue will not stop until it finishes, even if you disable the setting that initially generated the tasks. I've tried a few other scenarios on my test server and couldn't get it to run these tasks on libraries that disabled trickplay and chapter images.

Regarding the TMDB errors, are you using a VPN? It looks like it is trying to connect to TMDB and failing. Which can definitely extended the time it takes for a library scan to complete as it waits for the timeout period for each attempt.

No...they were NEVER enabled. Yes, I'm using a VPN, which was never before a problem, at least not with version 10.10.7. But..it's deactivated anyways. I've shutdown Jellyfin, exit via tray icon, and restarted. after the Server was running it took roughly 10 seconds for the main page to populate the page with the images of the libraries and the most recent added content. I can enter my main Movies and documentary libraries and i can see the content pictures. If i want to entera library with tV shows i only get the spining circle

Run the Optimize Database job and try again.

You can't delete them but you can disable the schedule.  Just click on them, NOT the triangle, and it should bring you to the page to set a trigger.  Just delete the existing trigger.

After doing this, run "Scan all libraries" and monitor the logs to see if it is still trying to generate trickplay images and extract chapter images.

I think the main problem lies within my TC Show Libraries. I deleted all of them and will now just add one and then see what's happening

...

Just FYI: i removed the the three or four TV show libraries, I optimized the remaining Libraries, and i did a complete Library scan, which seems to finish soon. After that i will exit Jellyfin complete, start new, and then i will add ONE new Library, making sure NO Trickplay or Chapter Images options are enabled.
