My TV struggles to play certain video files when subtitles are turned on. I can play them from my PC's JellyFin media player/web player, but not my TV's. The video will just pause for a minute and then play maybe 2 seconds before pausing again. Once you turn off subtitles it plays perfectly like normal.

    Media Player : jellyfin-androidtv 0.17.6
    Server : 10.9.11

Server runs on a raspberry pi 5, connected with ethernet.

The Jellyfin Android TV app currently cannot render ASS subtitles, which leads to the server "burning" them in—a process that is quite CPU intensive and can overwhelm the Raspberry Pi's capabilities.

The next major version (0.18.0) of the Android TV app will include better subtitle support, which may help your situation depending on the subtitle type. In the meantime, you can use external SRT files with your media or try using the external app feature in the Jellyfin ATV app. I would suggest trying out Just Player.

In general Pi's are not recommended for servers.
