When I watch in my browser, the picture have started to glitch like this: Filmed the screen, at 2 sec and 6 sec. [Deleted by TheDreadPirate - site ads have porn]

    - It only happens in full screen
    - Only happen with jellyfin (not youtube etc)
    - It only seem to happen when subtitles are turned on
    - It doesn't matter what browser I use
    - It started a few weeks ago.
    - Have tried 2 different jellyfin versions (one is the latest)
    - It doesn't happen on android app (don't have TV so can't test there)
    - Have tried changing subtitle settings (like font and size and such), issue stays
    - Same videos from same server run fine on e.g VLC
    - Monitor/windows resolution 3440x1440, 3024x1296, 2560x1024, 2310x990 glitches (~21:9). 2560x1440 (max 16:9 resolution available) glitching stopped.
So it seems the glitch has to do with aspect ratio rather than resolution. 21:9, 21.333:9 and other ultra wide resolutions glitch, but 16:9 is fine.

This is obviously not a pure jellyfin issue, but not a pure local PC problem, or monitor problem, or browser problem either it seems. Any ideas at all what the reason for this can be?

If you are on a PC, try watching with Jellyfin Media Player. Does the issue still happen there?

Had such stability issues with JMP so kinda stopped use it, and crashed again when I was gonna try it before starting this thread, just to check for glitches.
But tried now again and there's no glitches in video. So narrowed down to only be in browsers. But all browsers. Thank you.
Hopefully JMP was just temporary unstable while initializing after re-installing or something so I can use that instead.

I wonder what the difference is in browser players and the player in JMP.
Still kinda want to fix that issue. Maybe it's an issue that will randomly fix itself after x amount of updates of jellyfin, browsers, video players, codex:s, system and such.

edit: was just a lucky shot with JMP and started to crash again, so I'm back to browser. Still narrowed the issue down though.

Which browsers have you tried and what is the PC OS?

I haven't been able to replicate your problem on Win 11 (Chrome) or Ubuntu 23.10 (Firefox/Chromium).

Windows 10. Vivaldi, Brave, and Chrome. (Should probably test with Firefox since the other are all chrome based). And will test on a linux laptop as well later.

dammit, today it doesn't seem to happen, with same videos and same browsers. Intermittent issue, I'll never figure this one out. Will test with Firefox and Linux when issue returns.

Was nice for 2 days, now it's back.

Tried with Firefox while issue was active, no issues at all. While issues with all chromium based browsers it seems.

    Confusing.

At this point, the only thing I can suggest is to submit a bug report to this link.

    https://github.com/jellyfin/jellyfin-web/issues

Provided as much info as possible including the media info for the videos you are having trouble with.

Perhaps open the dev console (f12) and see if anything stands out?

    Hi,

I'm having the same issue in Edge, on Windows 11, Jellyfin version 10.9.7
What's strange is that it only happens in fullscreen when the controls have already disappeared.
    video is a 1080 H264 SDR.
Discokongo above said "- Have tried changing subtitle settings (like font and size and such), issue stays " BUT for me it only seems to be glitching when subtitles are on, and they are actively being displayed

If subtitles trigger the issue, are they SRT or ASS subs? Or image based subs like DVDSUB or PGS that are burned in?
