Locate ffmpeg folder for hardware acceleration

#1

hello everyone,

i just installed jellyfin on my remote server running debian 8 (linux noobs), and trying to figure how to configure the hardware acceleration part. (server with Intel Core i3-530)
apparently, i need to add ffmpeg location but don’t really know how to do it, checking internet i’ve been able to find the following command to find location: “locate ffmpeg”
Can someone tell me what adress i need please

Normally it should be the first one but with a leading ‘/’, so “/usr/bin/ffmpeg”.
However, as far as I remember, normally you don’t have to enter a path although it’s not shown in the UI. That was a bug, but I don’t know if it is fixed by now.

Thanks for your answer,
I’m asking this because I can’t save acceleration configuration if I don’t fill ffmpeg location ( message from jellyfin asking to fill ffmpeg location)

I will try in a few hours and report back

For future reference, if you ever need to find the actual location of a program executable, you just need to run the which command

E.g.

which ffmpeg
/use/bin/ffmpeg

thanks, much appreciated

after adding location, i can save and working great so far
Thanks
