Can't connect to server - en33-08 - 2024-12-08 Hi everyone, I'm pretty much new to all this. I had Plex but decided to switch over to Jellyfin, especially because of the Android app being free and all. The issue is that I can't seem to connect to my server, which is running on my Windows 11 Pc, at all. I can connect to the server locally through the browser on the same PC but the Android app on my tablet? Doesn't work. Windows firewall has private and public already chechmarked & I tried port forwarding on router site. Didn't work. I don't know what else I can try because I'm not really knowledgeable about all this. I thank in advance! RE: Can't connect to server - TheDreadPirate - 2024-12-09 Click Start > type Resource Monitor > click on the Network tab > expand the Listening Ports table. Find jellyfin.exe and tell us what it says for the Firewall Status column. RE: Can't connect to server - en33-08 - 2024-12-09 It says "Allowed, not restricted". Is it correct that the protocol is UDP and the Port is something else than 8096 (I haven't changed the port on the server)? RE: Can't connect to server - TheDreadPirate - 2024-12-09 8096 - TCP - Main port for Jellyfin 1900 - UDP - DLNA 7359 - UDP - Service Discovery You mentioned "public and private" on the firewall. Which firewall is the NIC using? Is your NIC set to private or public? Should be set to private. RE: Can't connect to server - en33-08 - 2024-12-09 I'm sorry but I don't know what NIC means. Could you maybe explain that so I can respond accordingly? I can tell you that Jellyfin is set to public and private on the standard Windows Firewall. Should it only be private and not public? RE: Can't connect to server - TheDreadPirate - 2024-12-10 Network Interface Controller. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/make-a-wi-fi-network-public-or-private-in-windows-0460117d-8d3e-a7ac-f003-7a0da607448d#:~:text=Select%20Start%20%2C%20then%20type%20settings,Public%20(Recommended)%20or%20Private. This guide says WiFi, but it applies if your PC is connected over wired. RE: Can't connect to server - en33-08 - 2024-12-10 Ah I see. My NIC is currently set to public. Are there any security risks or similar to setting to private? Also should I set Jellyfin to be only private on the firewall? RE: Can't connect to server - Bw00d21 - 2024-12-10 what are you typing in as your Server address on the app? it should look something like 192.168.1.X:8096 If that's what you're typing, is the tablet and windows PC on the same network? RE: Can't connect to server - TheDreadPirate - 2024-12-10 It should be set to private. There are no security concerns. RE: Can't connect to server - en33-08 - 2024-12-12 Well, I set both my NIC and firewall setting for Jellyfin to be private but it still does not work. Yes, I typing something similar to that but it does not work and obviously they are on the same network. |
