RE: Convert file to AV1 using hw accel. - goerdi - 2025-01-29 Hi ! Thanks btw: is the result shown in the picture realistic ? all sources are hevc.. Ciao Gerd RE: Convert file to AV1 using hw accel. - bitmap - 2025-01-29 I mean...sure? Watch the encoded versions and see if the fidelity meets your needs. I save anywhere from ~15-90% on my AV1 encodes, though some media is harder than others (particularly media older than ~2010). RE: Convert file to AV1 using hw accel. - TheDreadPirate - 2025-01-29 I can second bitmap's statement. Animation compresses A LOT. Especially modern animation with no film grain. I've had some movies compress hardly at all. I had a 4K movie from the mid-90s go from ~46GB to 40GB. And I think most of that was from getting rid of the extra audio tracks in other languages. RE: Convert file to AV1 using hw accel. - bitmap - 2025-01-29 SVT-AV1-PSY works better than vanilla SVT-AV1 in terms of animation compression and overall compression in most cases. Additionally has the benefit of adaptive film grain, which re-evaluates film grain rather than applying it at one strength. Plus you can use psy-rd just like HEVC encodes do to fool your eyeballs. |
