RE: Best operating system and processor for JellyFin? - TheDreadPirate - 2023-10-12 Nope. My jellyfin server is hosted on my hardware at home. I haven't used any hosting services since the early 00's to run my clan's Counter Strike 1.6 server. My intention is not a VPS but a dedicated server, which company do you recommend? Thanks in advance RE: Best operating system and processor for JellyFin? - Deleted User - 2023-10-12 depends on your desired region for north america if you want a high powered backbone then a server in the ashburn facility is top notch for both connectivity to north america and the eu - phoenixnap used to offer servers in this location the aforementioned vultr has high end backbones in most regions rackspace has good services you can also look into google and amazon aws depending on your needs but they tend to be much more expensive on storage i can recommend against FDC anything you look at, perform a tracert to find out if they are a top tier or just a low end reseller RE: Best operating system and processor for JellyFin? - javifeer - 2023-10-12 @000 thank you very much for your reply! How about heztner or digitalocean? RE: Best operating system and processor for JellyFin? - TheDreadPirate - 2023-10-12 I've heard good things about both. IIRC, Jellyfin hosts their infrastructure on Digital Ocean. And I know a lot of people here use Hetzner for their Jellyfin servers. RE: Best operating system and processor for JellyFin? - Deleted User - 2023-10-12 same here, i have heard good things about hetzner but i have never actually used either of them personally RE: Best operating system and processor for JellyFin? - javifeer - 2023-10-12 Great, thanks so much for the help! Now I just have to decide and get going, I will probably use debian with docker or directly ubuntu, and realize the issue of reverse proxies and such ... a new world! haha the truth that I love it! RE: Best operating system and processor for JellyFin? - elephantLYFE - 2023-10-13 Best? No idea. My specs below work great for a one user setup with two clients on my home network. RE: Best operating system and processor for JellyFin? - javifeer - 2023-10-13 What do you think about these specifications? CPU Intel i5 13500 RAM 64GB DDR4 512GB NVMe SSD Thanks!!!! |
