i see, i misunderstood your setup, i was imagining Synology -cifs> Media Server -> client
my suggestion was to replace the broken link between the storage and media server
it is unlikely you will find anything for android that will allow a system level mount for sshfs

and i understand the conundrum, yes i do think smbv1 will be a bottleneck as well as how it has been implemented and even which language it is implemented with

from user reports not even kodi is able to play correctly over smb without mounting it from the shield directly

Well I see the JF team matched of my feature request with another from 2021... hopefully they'll consider implementing it now. I basically cannot use JF client on my Zidoo Z9x, with JF server on my Synology Nas and get the 100% glitch free playback I get when using the Zidoo player client directly. A real shame, as I really like the JF interface and UI.
