It could be the files themselves.I used to use "Ubooquity" for comics & now use "Komga" & have had a similar problem in both of these servers. Unzip the .cbz file & have a look at what the first image is. It might be a bad image or the cover is in a landscape size not portrait. I have had success removing bad images, cropping landscape covers to portrait & sometimes just unzipping & rezipping the issue will resolve the problem.

I've experimented further and I found that the images were displayed properly if they were packed into a CBR file. I don't know if this workaround will work in all cases.
