You can check ALL of the codecs in the list EXCEPT VP8. And you need to uncheck AV1 ENCODING (Allow encoding in AV1 format).

Can you attach the log from after you've checked HEVC 10-bit?

i changed it to thesettings you advised

but still stuttering

i attached the log after the changes

Ok. So the ffmpeg logs indicates that from the server side, it is transcoding fast enough. It's a 24FPS video and it is transcoding at 33FPS.

But the output of the transcode is 4K, which may not be possible for the tablet to keep up with. In the Android app, there is a setting to cap the transcode resolution. Set that to 1080P and that should trigger the server to scale down 4K videos to 1080P.

RE: Stuttering on Tablet - Baaka - 2024-10-18

there are 3 apps i can use from the appstore: jellyfin, jellyfin for fire tv, findroid

i tried all 3 and only found this option in jelly fin, which did not resolve the issue
(looks like i used the wrong app before, jellyfin for fire tv)

Can this issue also be related with my bandwidth?

I only have 2,4 GHZ and i want to upgrade soon to 5GHZ, i assumed the transcoding also lowered the necessary bandwidth.
My TV has no issues with th original 4k.

Do a speed test from your tablet?

RE: Stuttering on Tablet - Baaka - 2024-10-18

i checked with "validator" and 72 mbps seem sufficient, but the internet connection only tested for 24mbps, but i should have around 900-1000 or at least 72...

i checked with a different app and i get 28mbps over internet, therefore the wifi shouldnt be worse

The Fire HD 10 only supports 1080p. The current version of the Jellyfin Android TV app restricts resolutions based on a hardcoded list, and the Fire HD device is not included on that list. As a result, it will attempt to play 4K/ not request a lower resolution from the server, leading to poor playback performance. However, the next major version 0.18 will introduce an automatic resolution check, which should resolve this issue (release date is not yet available).

The Jellyfin app relies on the Webui and you should be able to limit the resolution on the server. To do so, click on your profile avatar in the top right corner of the home screen, then select "Playback." Under "Video Quality," set the "Maximum Allowed Video Transcoding Resolution" to 1080p and check the option to "Limit maximum supported video resolution."

unfortunately i tried that and it did not resolve the issue, still stuttering

Actually try making those changes on the Jellyfin app, not on the server.
