When I play the same movie locally on the tablet, it runs smooth
When I play it within the jellyfin app, it stutters, missing frames all the time
CPU load of the server was around 3% during playback.
Is there a way to enforce a transcoding? Just to test if ffmpeg works at all

Did some more testing. The android app as an info that shows the olaying mode. Forcing the resolution down to 480p switches from directplay to transcoding and the mpvie starts to run smooth. Of course thats not a real option.
Is there a possibility tomassign some sort of profile to a device? I have seen those profiles for DLNA devices, but not in conjunction with the jellyfin app itself.

Chatted with the devs, device profiles is not a thing with the android app. Supposedly the next version will do a lot more to detect device support to address this issue.
