transcoding crashes windows cpu - botbooks - 2025-03-25 When remote viewing on my phone ffmpeg runs my cpu to 100 and makes the computer reboot. No problems though with chromecast. Maybe relevant info: I did a fresh boot of windows, I installed the recommended intel assist(Did update graphics drive), I have tried various options under playback>transcoding, Honestly at a loss and any help would be grateful Here is a pastebin of the stream that ran it high https://pastebin.com/deEWe8Pm RE: transcoding crashes windows cpu - use7 - 2025-03-25 It sounds like your PC may be overheating? causing the rebooting. You may be able to look into the Windows event log to see if there's anything there that says why it power-cycles. A stop-gap measure could be to lower the transcoding thread-count (Dashboard -> Playback -> Transcoding -> "Transcoding thread count" from Auto -> N-2 or 3 [where N is the number of cores on your cpu]) to see if that helps. This may make your transcodes take longer (you may experiance stuttering if you don't let it buffer). You may also want to try playback without GPU accell. to ensure that it isn't a driver issue (though if a driver issue I wouldn't expect you to have gotten 1:32 into the stream). RE: transcoding crashes windows cpu - TheDreadPirate - 2025-03-25 The only CPU usage would be from the audio transcoding since the iGPU is handling the video transcode. This shouldn't stress your CPU too much. When my setup transcode audio it doesn't even boost the CPU clock. It stays at its lowest power state (~800Mhz). And the iGPU shouldn't draw too much power either when transcoding. Can you share the main Jellyfin log? And how much free space do you have on the C drive? RE: transcoding crashes windows cpu - botbooks - 2025-03-25 Device name Laptop-Serv Processor Intel® Core i7-8550U CPU @ 1.80GHz 1.99 GHz Installed RAM 16.0 GB (15.9 GB usable) System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor Pen and touch Pen and touch support with 10 touch points Edit: With 1.77 Tb out of 1.81 free on c drive RE: transcoding crashes windows cpu - TheDreadPirate - 2025-03-25 I guess keep HWInfo64 open on the laptop and monitor temps and whatnot to try and see what is going on. Maybe this is a thermal issue and you need to repaste this old laptop. RE: transcoding crashes windows cpu - botbooks - 2025-03-25 So I found a couple of things in red and not 100 percent sure it means I need to replace the paste or where to go RE: transcoding crashes windows cpu - botbooks - 2025-03-25 Also don't know if helpful but played my sub domain in a browser on my phone and it didn't stress anything out in task manager unlike the android client. RE: transcoding crashes windows cpu - botbooks - 2025-03-25 With your great help I was able to figure out I needed to change the media layer in the client setting in app. I did previously reinstalled the app and it must have switched the video player type to web player instead of integrated player. Thank you for your time and guidance. Everything is good for now. |
