Looking for a good Margherita pizza recipe - Silvia Apilinario - 2025-04-23

Hey guys
Been wanting to make a margherita pizza at home, just the simple kind with tomato sauce, cheese, and basil.
I’ve tried a couple times but it’s never quite right lol. Anyone got an easy recipe that turns out good? If you’ve made it in a wood oven, even better.

Yeah, that’s a good one! I actually followed this Wood-Fired Margherita Pizza Recipe and it worked really well for me. The step-by-step process made it easy to get that crispy crust I was aiming for, and it turned out delicious. Margherita seems easy but man, it’s a vibe when done right.

Quick tips: use tipo 00 flour for the dough — stretchy and crispy when done. Let it proof overnight if you can. San Marzano tomatoes for sauce — smash, salt, maybe a drizzle of olive oil. No fancy stuff. Fresh mozzarella, drain the liquid or your crust’ll cry 😭 Bake hot and fast — wood oven is king, but broiler + pizza stone works in a pinch.

Throw basil on at the end, not before, unless you like sad green bits.

For a simple Margherita, start with a thin, well-kneaded dough and a light layer of fresh tomato sauce. Use high-quality mozzarella and add fresh basil after baking to keep it bright and flavorful. Baking on a pizza stone or in a hot oven helps get a nice crust. If you want some inspiration for toppings and presentation, checking a menu like https://sverige-meny.se/vapiano-meny-pris/
can give ideas on flavor balance. Even small tweaks make a big difference, and the wood oven really brings out that authentic taste. Do you usually bake it at home or try a pizza stone setup?
