Can i use Hardware accleration using my old CPU and GPU? - summer - 2023-12-13 I have a server (an old computer) in which I have Debian installed and have hosted Jellyfin in a docker container. The server has an Intel Core i3-540 and a Nvidia GT-630. Based on the research I did I don't think I can use these for hardware acceleration, I just wanted to confirm this as I don't have much knowledge in this area. Also, will running in a container cause any performance drops? Spec page: https://www.nvidia.com/en-gb/geforce/graphics-cards/geforce-gt-630-oem/specifications/ https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/46473/intel-core-i3540-processor-4m-cache-3-06-ghz/specifications.html RE: Can i use Hardware accleration using my old CPU and GPU? - TheDreadPirate - 2023-12-13 The i3-540 doesn't have an iGPU and thus no Quick Sync. The GT630 doesn't have NVENC. RE: Can i use Hardware accleration using my old CPU and GPU? - tmsrxzar - 2023-12-13 as to the other part of your question, no running in docker does not diminish performance (or if it does it's less than 1% and i've never noticed), it's not virtualized like a vm so uses normal processes and (if configured) physical hardware |
