Weird video banding / tearing issues when playing from Jellyfin directly - Rigging2002 - 2023-12-16

I mainly watch anime, but I see a lot of video banding / tearing that happen in both the Jellyfin web browser playback and also the Jellyfin Media Player from Windows.

I can confirm the video is direct playing from the server, and I have no issues playing the video from either Infuse (video player for my iOS devices) or from mpv (separately installed from Jellyfin's).

Here are some examples of what happens.

I attached some log files of the ffmpeg and the Jellyfin server log.

Let me know if there is anything I can do to help remediate this.

Thank you!

I see you are using syncplay. Does this tearing happen when you are NOT using syncplay? It's a bit buggy and I'm just eliminating syncplay as a factor.

Hey TheDreadPirate,

I appreciate your response, I can confirm it bugs out even while playing videos alone.

I reinstalled Jellyfin Media Player a few times and even deleted my AppData folder it created, but no dice.

However, I did notice that this issue mainly affected me and one of my friends who has the same exact prebuilt PC, so I suspect there is some kind of weird driver issue or bad configuration.
I did try the Jellyfin mpv shiv and it works fine, so I'll use that client from now one until I get more free time to look into this further
