Android TV Audio stutters on a specific track - Buccaneer0809 - 2024-01-20

Hi,

I have a really odd problem with sound, some kind of stuttering but only with english.

My server setup : latest jellyfin within LXC container, everything works perfectly fine with hardware decoding.

I play mkv file, with h264 1080p encoded video stream, and two AC3 audio tracks encoded the same way (english and french).
Really nothing unusal or something my server can't handle : he never crosses 15% server load, nor 7% memory consumption.

Audio #1
ID                                      : 2
Format                                  : AC-3
Format/Info                              : Audio Coding 3
Commercial name                          : Dolby Digital
Codec ID                                : A_AC3
Duration                                : 47 min 16 s
Bit rate mode                            : Constant
Bit rate                                : 448 kb/s
Channel(s)                              : 6 channels
Channel layout                          : L R C LFE Ls Rs
Sampling rate                            : 48.0 kHz
Frame rate                              : 31.250 FPS (1536 SPF)
Compression mode                        : Lossy
Delay relative to video                  : -5 ms
Stream size                              : 152 MiB (12%)
Title                                    : VFF AC3 5.1
Language                                : French
Service kind                            : Complete Main
Default                                  : No
Forced                                  : No

I copied only one of them because mediainfo gives the same for #audio 2, besides Language and Title.

I play them on my Android Philips smart TV with the official Jellyfin app with no subtitles.

What I tried so far :
- it plays fine on pc browser and phone app.
- switched cifs to nfs storage to try to lower latency
- fiddled with JF app settings : libVLC player, latency etc
- here and there tried to lower some non-pertinent server quality settings, switching VAAPI to QSV etc

Logs gives nothing relevant, neither on server nor from tv logcat

Should I try to buy an english speaking television XD ?

Are you using libVLC exclusively?

I tried with both

In Jellyfin on your Android TV, can you check the Playback settings and fiddle around with the audio settings?

Do you have either of the bit stream settings enabled?  Disabled?  Downmixing?
