Client options direct-play for Apple TV 4K? - Panja - 2024-04-02 At the moment I'm running an old Android TV box with CoreELEC (Kodi) and the Jellyfin Kodi plugin. This has been working great for the last couple of years but recently I've been facing the limitations of the device: No 4K and bigger content cannot be played without a lot of buffering (100mbit NIC). So I'm in the run for a new device, preferable a device which is easy to use for everyone in the family and can be used as universal streaming device (Netflix, Disney+ etc and of course Jellyfin). A great device for this would be the AppleTV 4K (GenĀ 3) but what is the current status of Jellyfin for AppleTV? Does it support direct-play? Can I use the Jellyfin client on AppleTV without transcoding? Any alternatives if not possible? RE: Client options direct-play for Apple TV 4K? - TheDreadPirate - 2024-04-02 I'd stick with Android TV devices over Apple devices. Our Android clients are much more regularly updated than our Apple clients. I like my Chromecast with Google TV 4K. It receives updates pretty regularly, has a pretty responsive UI, pretty good codec support, and is cheap. RE: Client options direct-play for Apple TV 4K? - DanielPires - 2024-04-08 Nice support. RE: Client options direct-play for Apple TV 4K? - jimmyjammy - 2024-04-08 i have an Apple Tv 4k & I use Infuse 7 as the client for my Jellyfin server & am very happy. Infuse direct plays everything. |
