user name and password - rmrav48 - 2024-04-05 I'm a brand new user on a Windows PC. When I installed Jellyfin, I was not asked for a username and password. But when I try to use the software, it asks me for that info. Is there a way to go back to my set up to create my credentials? Thanks. RE: user name and password - TheDreadPirate - 2024-04-05 Did you install the server or the desktop client? If you're certain you installed the server, did you ever have Jellyfin installed on this PC in the past? RE: user name and password - rmrav48 - 2024-04-05 I thought I installed the server -- but I guess I'm not sure. I tried Jellyfin a day ago and uninstalled it, but I didn't have a username and PW then either. Thought I'd try it again. I went to https://repo.jellyfin.org/?path=/server/windows/latest-stable/amd64 and downloaded jellyfin_10.8.13_windows-x64.exe. Thanks for helping out. RE: user name and password - TheDreadPirate - 2024-04-05 Ok. Just making sure. We had someone the other day install Jellyfin Media Player and not the server. I don't have access to my PC at the moment, so going from memory. Stop your Jellyfin server from the system tray icon .Check in this directory for system.xml C:\ProgramData\Jellyfin\Server\ I can't remember if it is in this directory or sub directory. In system.xml there will be a line called "IsStartupWizardComplete". It is probably true right now. Change it to false. Save. Start Jellyfin from the system tray. It SHOULD show you the setup wizard, including creating the first account. RE: user name and password - rmrav48 - 2024-04-05 Thanks. Worked perfectly. I so appreciate the help. I have exactly the same problem and no idea where to find system.xml Any help appreciated. Used to be able to use JF on my old mac no sweat... this new one is a 2023 MacBook Pro 16 on Apple Silicon running Sonoma 14.5 and I cannot get passed any of the login "wrong password" or try to reset password "try again on your home network" messages bs. Looking for someone on Mac who has this solved. Blessings RE: user name and password - TheDreadPirate - 2024-08-07 Check in ~/.config/jellyfin/. How does one "Change it to false"? I think I'm having a similar issue as I can't log in after reinstalling the server files. I'm pretty dense when it comes to this kind of stuff... Just rename the extension to .txt (to open on Windows' notepad app) and back to .xml when done. RE: user name and password - hdjv - 2024-08-20 Thanks for the response. However, I wasn't able to find any line containing "IsStartupWizardComplete". Happen to have any more insight?? Essentially I was having some issues and figured a clean reinstall of the server would be the best option but now that I have everything reinstalled, I can no longer sign in using the username or password that I previously set up. And that's pretty much where I stand. Edit: Disregard. Somehow it's fixed itself. |
