Jellyfin android tv: video shaking - Grummm - 2024-04-08

I've been having this weird issue where the video "shakes"/becomes blurry for a frame. It seems to mostly happend with a static background with a foreground element that's moving.
I've tried switching video players but that hasn't helped and I haven't seen it happen in any apps other than Jellyfin.
Android tv is the only client in which this is happening the Jellyfin mediaplayer doesn't have this problem.

Is there any way to fix this?

Which setting are you using for the refresh rate scaling? Disabled, scale on device, scale on tv?

RE: Jellyfin android tv: video shaking - Grummm - 2024-04-08

It's disabled. Is it possible for the refresh rate to influence the image beyond, well... the refresh rate?

edit: Just tried both scale on device and on tv and it doesn't seem to fix it.

The reason I asked is that the issue you described could be caused by refresh rate mismatches when scaling is disabled. But you tried both scaling modes.

Is the video transcoding?

Nope, it's not.

Can you submit a ticket here?

Provide as much log and media info you can. And the screenshots from your first post.

Yeah sorry about the the delay but I figured it out. It had nothing to do with jellyfin. It was the tv's framerate insertion thingy trying to smooth out the framerate and horribly failing.
