Sorting / identify Problem - zwiebl - 2023-08-16

Hello guys! just recently set up my jellyfin server and overall i am very happy.
So i made an Anime library with all my anime stuff. most got picked up correctly. some i had to do manually by clicking identify and adding the imbd id. worked great.
but a few movies like Howls moving castle, porco rosso, castle in the sky do ONLY show when i click to episode tab (and on recently added). no metadata found for these and i cannot click identify to link imdb id. i tried editing metadata and added "Sort title"... i was hoping then it would show on "shows" tab and i can identify it... but it never shows on "shows" tab, only on episode. now i am looking for some help. running jellyfin 10.8.10 on windows 10
how can i identify these? or how can i make em show on shows tab?

It sounds like you are putting movies into a TV Show library? You should separate movies into a movie type library. Otherwise it will have trouble identifying them.

oh. thanks for the response! didnt think of that... because all the other movies like my neighbour totoro, when marnie was there, and others are getting shown at "shows" and i could identify them if data was not found.
its just 4 movies that are stuck in eposides... is there really no way to move them to shows and identify them? do i really have to make 2 separat libraries? sadface

Hey @zwiebl

Yes you more or less have to. Jellyfin uses the Lib type to "talk" to the correct metadata providers.
There is a mixed type, but it has tones of bugs itself and is considered obsolete/legacy only.

I haven't seen anyone get a mixed movie/TV library to work well in Jellyfin.

***See Venson's response.
