Server+Client on the same MacMini - Giancarlo Massari - 2024-12-17

Hi everyone, I'm strugglin' with this (perhaps stupid) question:
is it possible tu use a MacMini both as media server and client (player)?

Thanks a lot!

Yes. Lots of people do this for other operating systems.

Are you having a specific issue?

Not exactly, but I'm building a Home Theatre with a MacMini and I'm not sure if I must install only JF Server or I need also a Client, all on OsX.
I'll do some tests, I've searched some guide but found nothing...

Thanks!

Having both on the same device does not require any additional steps or considerations. Install the server, configure it based on our documentation and your OS+hardware. Install your desired Jellyfin client (Kodi or Jellyfin Media Player). Done. Or just use Safari or your preferred browser.
