Android/Huawei Blank space with the shape of the notification bar always visible

When playing content using the android app, the fullscreen isn't filling the screen completely. There remains a gray bar at the top with the exact size the notification bar would have (it also overlays perfectly when you pull it down).
This is on a Huawei P Smart running EMUI 12/Android 10
